I suspect that I'm like a lot of people, and have not been able to get out and ride much lately with all the holiday obligations and distractions. That may explain the "Today's Ride" string, and how it resonates with quite a few people.

I also managed to get out for a short, but very enjoyable, fixed-gear ride today. MJ and I met up with our friend John Raymond in Purcellville under a cloud sky and blustery winds. We did a quick in-and-back on the W&OD bike path, dodging a few sprinkles along the way. I rode my '73 Rickert and MJ rode her late 70's Falcon, both fixed-gear road bike conversions. John is a metal sculptor and welder, and a budding framebuilder. He was riding his own custom fixed-gear frame, still unpainted. It's John's first and only frame so far, but he's working on frame #2 for a friend of his. I saw the lugs he was working on when I was last in his shop in Lincoln, just outside of Purcellville. We're talking about a joint effort on a frame for me, maybe sometime in the coming year. Should be fun.

It was a good day to get out and ride.
