Since pedaling will unscrew the non-drive side crank arm bolts on standard bottom brackets, it's easier to damage the non drive side crank arm square taper.

Though people will argue that point with me, it's easier to find a non drive side cottered crank arm.

Always make sure your crank arm bolts are properly tightened!
