To which I'll add....

I would be incredibly interested if owners of these older Ralieghs and Peugeots could take a few minutes to measure the geometries of their frames.

For the past few years, the Bike Geometry Project list has grown considerably thanks to the submissions of dedicated collectors.

One of my personal goals for this effort is to capture the geometry designs of as many of these older bikes that many of us love to ride. Unfortunately, the designs of these bikes are largely undocumented and in this way, are not available for more modern bike designers to draw from.

In particular, I'm very, very interested in documenting what we used to call "sport touring" designs. Roughly speaking, I'm talking about bikes with 73 degree parallel angles, rakes in the 5.5 - 6.0cm range, chainstays in the 45cm range and fitted for 47-57 calipers.

I'm very convinced that many of the bike boom bikes that we look back fondly fit this general design pattern, but proving this is quite hard, as many older bikes simply don't have documented geometries.

Instructions on how to measure a frame are available at the link below.
