Subject: [CR]Specialized Turbo tires

I purchased a bike from a knowledgeable cyclist. He said that he looks for NOS Specialized Turbo tires for all his bikes. That's what came with the bike he sold me. The tires looked fresh and soft and in good condition so for three years I've been riding that bike with the turbos he included in the deal.

The old Turbos have a different profile from the new ones. The sidewalls are round like all bike tires in the 23 - 25 width but the the contact point is flattened at the bottom. The bottom of the tire sort of looks like the shape of the runners on a rocking horse. Specialized dropped that shape later in favor of pure rounded. When I ride this bike and corner hard I hear a wet sort of squishing sound half way between the sound of riding through a moist patch and riding through a patch of a few tiny dried leaves in the road. No other tire of mine (all modern design) gives this particular sound through the corners. What's up ? Are the tires too old or is it the flattened bottom design of the old Turbos?
