Ted, John and all, The only reason I pointed out the hub as a track hub is that that was it wa s sold to me as such, and because I wouldn't know a track threading if I st epped on one, I believed the seller. Who now has offered to take it back (n o chance, it's worth more than I paid for it for what it is, pristine Airli tes are rare), explaining to me that he found it with a load of other track parts in the locker room of a abandonned velodrome, and that furthermore t hat older track hubs didn't have double threading, one for the cog, one for a lock ring. So it could be he knows even less about track gear than I do, which is no mean feat. As to threading, I have threaded a track cog all th e way on to it without any trouble, and I guess that were I to want to it w ould be possible to use a device for locking as suggested by Ted Ernst , wh o, if anybody knows, would know.

On the subject of flogging frozen solid dead horses , it's good to never gi ve up when the only horse you have is dead, if only for morale's sakes, so it could be that Dmitry is onto something.

John Betamis wrote " That's exactly right. Back in the day when I rode with a club in the UK, used to remove the block and replace it with a single cog and BB lockring for winter riding, often dispensing with the rear brake, but never the front. The law was very strict about having two "brakes". The question should be, why did Nick March describe this as a track hub when it does not have track threading? http://membres.lycos.fr/partspeekers/hpbimg/P1010224.jpg
