I finally got around to taking a comparison photo showing some of the various old Weinmann black rubber X-style pads in their holders. These were produced for over 25 years in one form or another (hardly modified at all) and many are still in use on old Weinmann center-pull calipers. Nothing fancy or Hi-Tech about these, but they worked very nicely on my own bikes, were always easily found at most any LBS, and were always reliable and very inexpensive.
We've all probably used them at one time or another, so thought you might like to see a few of the subtle differences in the markings molded into the pads during their long run - beginning in the mid 1970s.
