Nick,

Many Raleighs were sold with a "Tour de France" decal on them commemorating the Ti-Raleigh team's success in the late 1970's/early 1980's. I have seen many lesser model Raleighs described as "Tour de France" machines as a result. Nearly all the sellers were just mistaken , not dishonest. I believe the Team Raleigh Record was mostly sold in Europe and was based, more or less, on the frame of the Raleigh Competition, thus the Huret drop-outs. It is still a nice frame. Unfortunately, the Team Record sold in the States was a ghastly, gas-pipe creation outfitted with the cheapest components then available. I'm sure Peter, Greg Parker or Hillary could confirm or refute this as well as providing even more information.
