One other nuance to all this. Nearly everything Alexx and Casanova have been moving does *not* look original to one degree or another. Casanova's stuff tends to be more convincing in a few pieces, but even the more convincing ones do not look original, for various reasons.

On the other hand, I actually bought one of these things recently. A De Rosa Panto'd GS three-arm chainring. I thought the job quite clean and attractive, and even plausibly original..although it's clearly NOT original, since, as far as I know, no De Rosa came with something like that back in the day.

Now, I could be convinced that such a pattern existed then, I just haven't seen an original of it yet. But, even if that were true, the item I bought is still not original and I wouldn't try to convince anyone it was. I just thought it was cool. It also cost me about 40 bucks shipped, pretty much the price of a bare ring in good condition..so I can live with that.

My point, now and forever, is, buyers need to know what they're buying. When sellers don't disclose crucial facts about an item, related to its originality or value, or condition, they are misleading a buyer. Period.

In short, Caveat that Emptor, same as it ever was.
