Subject: [CR]For Sale : Lovely FB / Sieber 4/5 speed road wheelset

I have a lovely set of old wheels for sale. They consist of low flange FB hubs (36 hole), thin butted spokes, and 700c Sieber tubular rims. There is an Atom 14/24 tooth 5-speed freewheel that shows slight signs of having been ridden, but little to no wear on the teeth. FW remover slots are perfect. The Sieber decal on the front rim is in much better shape than the rear. The rear axle measures a hair over 9 mm and the front is 8mm.

The rear axle spacing is 115mm, but there are two washers present that bring the spacing out to 120. If you run 115 you will need to re-space the axle for clearance for the 5-speed. It was probably built for a four-speed freewheel with the 115 spacing.

Front spacing is 100mm Wingnuts are Huret F&R There is a high quality (working) very nice period "Veeder" cyclometer attached to the front axle (1237 miles). Actually, I wonder if this actually is quite a bit older than the wheels - It says made in Hartford, Conn.

There are numerous pictures of the wheels at :

They are in very good shape although the hubs could use an overhaul with fresh grease and bearings, and the front hub is rougher than the rear - it probably needs new cones.

I think these would compliment a late 40's to mid 60's bike extremely well. They have patina galore !

I am asking $250 OBO / plus shipping in a nice solid double wheel box.

Thanks,
Mike Fabian
