I believe early 1960s, a friend bought a Merlin from Cupertino bike shop IN 1963 with that crankset. (instead of buying a Specialissima from my Dad-179.95 what was he thinking?) .Spence was famous for using long discontinued parts on bikes he built so if someone said they got a set of those on his bike in the 70s I would have no doubt in believing him And Mike points out that Phil can still provide BBs for oddball cranksets just in case anyone was looking
