Both Ray and Angel are to be credited for careful scrutiny of the Colnago shop drawings reproduced in Negri's book. Notwithstanding, these shop drawings must be seen first hand to be well appreciated. While it is true that an occasional stray measurement is present not within a box, and therefore not defined, such defects are few. What is more interesting in these drawings, are the fine differences ( too numerous to be repeated here) specified by Merckx for bikes he designated for different races. Such attention to detail marked his career-the most brilliant in the history of bike racing. Furthermore, the shop drawings corresponding to many other great champions are also present: from Gianni Motta to Tony Rominger. Furthermore, there is a wealth of photographs, including bikes, framesets, racers in action, celebrities with their Colnagos (royals galore and, of course, the Pope), etc. In short, this book is a treasure trove of precise information, a thing in short currency in our hobby. Would that there were more such books for us to enjoy. George
