If he weighed 75 kg on the morning of the Hour Record, are we sure he was/is nearly 6'1" ? That would have made him awfully slender, even for a top cyclist. I still woiuld like to see his vital statistics.
Why not make next year's Cirque theme "Race Bikes," with special emphasis on marques Merckx was associated with. Try to also get ephemera from collections (Horton etc.): like jerseys, printed material, musettes, heck even a retrospective of the Adidas shoes which carry his name.
As long as we don't behave like Trekkies and all go around in faux Molteni jerseys (yep, i got one too!) then maybe we won't freak him out. Invite him well in advance.
Special outdoor event: lawn party featuring Belgian beer, moules, frites dipped in mayonnaise.

Like Vlad, I am tall-n-skinny. Eddy in fighting trim was pretty darn slim as well.
I am 6' 2" and about 72-75 kilos, depending on how many times I've eaten at Popeye's lately!
