I took a few photos this weekend of a 1947 Stefano Cavanna aluminum bike (he also created the Cavanna derailleur). It was at the Museo del Ciclismo at Madonna del Ghisallo. Interested in them? I think I'm going to be sorry I didn't take more photos of that bike....

In October 2003, a Bicycle Quarterly reader sent me a xerox of a lovely booklet on aluminum bicycles, published in France in the 1930s. There was no return address, and only a brief note signed "Bob." Unfortunately, we have 124 readers named "Robert" or "Bob."

If the Bob in question is on one of these lists, I would like to get in touch, as I'd love to get better scans of the images for an upcoming issue on superlight bicycles.

If somebody else has the booklet titled "La Construction de la Bicyclette Legere avec le Duralumin et les Alliages Legers", with photos of making aluminum parts at Mavic and others, that would be wonderful, too.

Thank you.
