A well engineered bicycle will not weigh any more within reason than it needs to perform its intended function. Very few of our on-topic bikes weigh more than 25 pounds and most are closer to 20, a few even less. I've yet to ride a bicycle that felt "too light" or whose intended function was compromised by being light, but ridden quite a few that were unequivocally too heavy. Looking at modern component weights, it's clear how well our on-topic bikes were generally engineered.
