Dale and all,

How have CR members publicized or participated in non-CR ("off- topic") events in the past?

It occurs to me that an invitation to CR members to participate in an "off-topic" event as part of a "classic" contingent would be most welcome and acceptable, regardless of the nature of the larger event. So, if Dale wanted to invite CR members to participate in the Carolina Cup race, it would be fine by me to feature it on this list. (One might even make the case that any good bike ride is "on-topic," because that is a core activity for most of us, but I am not going to make that my primary objective here.)

Here are some ways that an event could and should be publicized here on the list:

1) Traditional CR participation in a non-CR event: have CR members participated as a group, formally or informally, in previous non-CR events? Is an event seen as a way to ride together, socialize, and/or promote CR values, either officially or unofficially?

2) Does a more general cycling event have a special "classic" category for participation? Are any CR-specific activities (promotions, judging, swaps, a concourse, etc.) scheduled to be held in tandem with an otherwise non-CR event?

3) Is a CR member proposing that CR members participate as a group (formally or informally) for the first time in a non-CR event?

Whether CR member participation is formal or informal, as long as we have a clear and logical link to our "classic" activities, publicizing an otherwise "off-topic" event here is fine.
