If one of the purposes of this list is to get folks to take an interest in classic bikes, preserve them, use them, promote this hobby, I'd argue that posts about group rides where our bikes are welcome and can be seen are a great idea -- maybe the very best way to grow this hobby, in fact.
I know when I attend a charity ride on a lugged steel bike, my machine attracts a great deal of attention from other riders, from sponsors, from the mechanics. Many ask about lug work, ride quality, weight, parts availability. Some get all misty-eyed and talk about the old Italian or French or English steed they've been neglecting in the basement, how to get it back on the road, why I still ride steel or tubulars or friction shifting or cotton bar tape.
I tell them about CR, Bicycle Classics, Sachs, Baylis, etc..
It's p.r. and it's diplomacy and it's all for the cause. I must differ on the opinion that such psosts constitute extraneous bandwidth. There's a lot worse, in the grand scheme.
