Dunno 'bout the Masi, but UC Davis does own a "functioning" but not actually functional Specialized Allez replica constructed entirely of an assortment of hardwoods. Yes, even the chain and "tires" are wood. It was built as an art project by a fellow who'd ridden his actual Allez cross-country at some point -- thus the wooden bike's title, "The Long Ride." If you're in Davis, you'll find it on display in the lobby of UC Davis' Transportation and Parking Services office, open every weekday.
