Bob,

Yeah, that's the conclusion I'm coming to. I could tell more if it were in front of me. I vaguely remember the bike, I just don't remember who i t belonged to. I'm thinking either Shane Dawson or Sheridan Saxon.

IMO, this frame screams "employee bike." 

Quirky details are improbable for a show

bike or custom order and that seat lug

extension is poorly done. Also, it uses the

old lugset (in the #0700's they would have

been well into the investment lug period),

so I'm guessing it was put together by an

employee in his spare time from parts that

were lying around (I've heard from several

sources that each Carlsbad employee was

allowed to pick or build a frame for himself).
