Maybe not so phony! If this frameset is from the EURO market place then we cannot say what is and what is not? I've lived in EUROPE for 10 years and v istied EDDY factory many times, I've also seen and had many EDDY MERCKX f ramesets from other sources. One day purchased one then pushed it onto a CR member. I thought there was something funny about this frameset, no fram e TUBING ID stickers, was lighter than all other EDDYs that I have handle d and sold? The seller said it was for real so I belived him and needed to get out of his shop only to hit another. As it turned out it was a custom j ob, BUILT with REYNOLDS 753 which was built for so and so and was deliver ed to a this Dutch shop! The buyer ( CR member ) contacted EDDYs factory, from the serial # they were able to tell the all of this frameset. Then th ey asked how he came onto the frameset? There in EUROPE the buyers are able to order a frameset anyway they want it to be, direct from EDDYs factory . I also purchased another EDDY MERCKX from a shop in Southern France, he re again not your normal EDDY, as like the other things just didn't add u p? Another custom job? I learned that it indeed was another custom built fr ameset that the buyer did not follow through with the purchase. In the old days we here in the U.S got the basic frameset offerings. MANY of the EUROP EAN makers did custom frames for their dealers. I also know of a MASTER wit h Arabesque luggs! Not so normal and is very pretty! I have lots of custom built GAZELLES and BATAVUS PROFESSIONALS, 1986 when vistiing for 7 weeks I ordered my custom built BATAVUS PROFESSIONAL. I got measured up, I want this and that to be built with COLUMBUS SL. 3 weeks later my frameset arri ved.

On another note: When living in EUROPE I ordered 2 EDDY MERCKX framesets fr om the DUTCH importer for EDDY. One of these framesets the paint was weak , not enough top coat, I mentioned this to this supplier when ordering 3 more frameset. when they arrived I was charged for 2 framesets and one pa int job? I questioned this and they said, 3rd frameset was free you only need to pay for the paint job for the 3rd frameset. I guess thiswas to make up for the badly painted fork. They didn't question my complaint about the paint job.

Robert! Did you get your stuff!..........This frameset is like those MAVIC hubs that I was talking to you about, with the engraved logos.

BC.........And the gang!! Seen and had many not so normal bike junk. Baron C.
