TA pedals used to have better finish and function in the 1970s and 1980s. I also have not been impressed by the most recent ones they made. Their cartridge BBs have a similarly mixed reputation.

I think one issue is that TA focuses on cranks and water bottles these days. Anything with bearings is a low priority. The machining of their cranks and chainrings appears very good, and I haven't had any problems there.
