i have a complete (less brakes) edco competition group from the early '80s and while the headset looks sort of like super record, and the cranks a bit like C-record, they are different in just as many dimensions. the crank is much smaller and lighter than c-record (and is noticably flexible).

edco is a very old company that made mostly hubs as far as i can tell. i see their '50s steel hubs on bikes on ebay.de every so often.

the competition group used weinmann brakes and simplex derailleurs, shifters and seatpost. edco made the cranks, hubs, bb and hs.

looking at the parts gives me no indication that there was any connection between edco and campagnolo.

Is there a history of Edco? I've learned from postings 10 years ago in CR archives (and Bill McReady) about the R&D capability of that firm. Were Edco cranksets, though, in everything but laser-etching or anodizing, Campagnolo? Or, have I not made a correct inference: that Edco was an R&D firm that designed cranks for Campagnolo (in the 1980s)?
