Aldo, I find the classic lights you've been collecting recently fascinating, but I've been meaning to ask, do they actually work? And if so how well? Are these old lights compatible with a modern 6V dynamo? Of course this latest has a built in dynamo, so I guess that's not an issue with this one. Are bulbs still available for these old lights? Most of these old ones seem to be dynamo lights. Were any battery powered? If so, are the batteries a type still available today?
I've noted that B&M and perhaps others sell retro-styled lights, except I think the cases are plastic, not aluminum or chromed steel. Has anyone on the list converted classic lights to modern internals or know of anyone who has? I recently bought some rechargeable C-cell batteries and a charger for bike lights, and I note the seller also offers kits to convert flashlights to the newer very bright CREE LED emitter. Might not be too large a project to adapt this kit to convert old French lights to modern internals. I know there are several engineers on the list, plus probably several more electricians or electronic hobbyists. Maybe one of them should have a go at this, especially if an old light is not functional as is.
