In answer to the question about how tight a clip fitting stem should be
my experience is that if everything is original and is in good shape the
n it should snug sliding fit. I have had several '48 RRA's too I found
if the stem or headclip have been rechromed some light sandpaper work wa
s required. My cuurent '48 has the original hard to find RRA pattern cli
p fitting stem with lugged construction that matches the frame lugs...a
really cool part IMHO. Good luck with your RRA ..they are great machine
