I am more of a Breaking Away fan, as opposed to American Flyers, especially the training ride drafting the semi. I saw both in theaters. I loved and still do love both movies. They are not in the cinematic class of the bicycle thief, but they are American and inspirational for me. I never say, "ciao, bellisima (sp)" without thinking of both movies. If only Downhill Racer, Le Mans, or Winning had been about bicycle racing. The same style, just about bikes. Are they accurate depictions, NO! So what, have some fun.
