Just my opinion of course, but I wouldn't compromise on shoes. Â I know many listmembers have never ridden clipless pedals and are proud of it. Â This is one place where I think that other than "for show", that is fooli sh pride. Â Wear them at Cirque, that's fine. Â But, clipless pedals , with the newer shoes, offer much better float, fit, and comfort than the " old school" shoes. Â A set of modern shoes with straps and ratchets can easily be loosened on that hot day when your feet swell. Â I'll acknowle dge those among you who believe you can do the same with laced shoes, but it isn't as easy and it isn't as precise. If you want to wear old style shoes and clips and straps just because that is what goes with your bike or becaus e you are stubborn and want to stick to what you have ridden since the sixti es, then I believe your choice is misplaced. I keep a stash of nail-on cleats and Detto shoes in my size. I fig ure w ith two pair of shoes that I presently use w/toe clips & straps, and two pa ir of spare shoes, its unlikely I'll need any more retro shoes in my li fe time. Maybe I should look-see if the stash of TA cleats can be pared down s omewhat, I know they still seem to be available from many of the usual so urces.  Have20just started to look at getting a pair of early-80's Look bolt-on-comp atable shoes as I'd like to try Look pedals on the jit-tanes. Anyone re co mmend a source for wide-footed size 48's?  Dale Phelps, Montagna lunga Colorado USA =0A=0A=0A
