I have found that as I get older and my arthritic wrists get gnarlier, they hurt like hell after a few NJ post winter pot holes. What I found that works well for me are flat handlebars. The Cinelli Alter work well, not light weight but effective. I also trend towards the more modern flat bars that are coming on the market now. I guess the baby boomer generation of riders are making these a viable product. Wrap these with the padded cork tape or as mentioned below and you have a ride that will not leave your wrists singing afterwards. May not be period correct but I figure my bones are so it all evens out.
