I would say that an Edco headset outwears a Campagnolo NR by a least 2 to 1. I have never ridden a Campagnolo SR enough to compare, although I would guess they are close to the Edco. Saying that, an Edco is one fine headset, short of a Chris King.

The Edco BB is a tougher comparison because you don't have to maintain it and the Campagnolo depends a bit on the L and R threading tolerances (cup and cone bearings are fairly tolerant of misalignment). I suppose a perfectly clean, lubricated and adjusted Campagnol NR BB on perfectly aligned L and R threads goes on close to forever and the Edco gets a bit loose after 100K miles!

hi paul,

in my experience there is no significant functional/operational difference between the SR and the edco. i think it comes down to an aesthetic or financial choice. the NR is steel and is another sort of thing.

Anyone care to comment on the various and sundry differences of an Edco Competition BB and Headset vs Campy NR and SR?? (i.e. functionality, durability, ease of repair and adjustment, "value", etc.)
