I just took my Peter Mooney over to his shop today to check out what I could find out about it.

1979, originally built as a road single speed/fixed gear with track ends but road geometry.

The bike is a bit big for me, but very nice. And Peter is just a really nice guy to talk to. (I also finally had a bit of potential business for him, so I wasn't just a drain on his time. I've had the bike a few years, and didn't have enough reason to check it out till recently) And he must be really organized, as it only took about 5 minutes for him to find and copy the original sales slip with the details.

So yes, there were single speed/fixed gear bikes for the road even here in the US during the era we're interested in.

I accidentally sent a post to the CR List with the name "The Lunch Buddies. "? It should say my name:? Ted E. Baer.? The Lunch Buddies were two f ools who always had to go lunch at noon together in Palo Alto.? No, I was not one of them.

Here is the post again in its entirety:

Here we go with the fixie stuff again.? Instead of being critical, I woul d like to take the high road this time (i.e.-- like the ones found in the D olomities) in asking the following:

What lightweight cycles aside from on-topic track and velo drome bicycles w ere sold between the general years of discussion outlined in the CR List Ru les?? Other than the two I just mentioned, I can only think of BMX and Ba lloon Tire bicycles both of which are off topic.

Does anyone have any information on an actual "fixie" that was handbuilt an d or mass produced from say 1933 to 1983?
