Subject: [CR] Bicycle Helmet

I have been reading the posts on bicycle helmets and decided to interject my feelings and experience. If it wasn't for a bicycle helmet I probably would either not be here or in a condition to even read on the internet. I did a fair amount of commuting on my bicycle (KOF Miyata 1000) before I retired and have been riding a bicycle for well over 50 years. In 2001 I was on my commute route, which by the way is on a bike path, was riding along and the next thing I knew is that I was being put in an ambulance. The only thing I can think that happened is that I slipped on a bit of slippery mud from some plant watering. I have no memory of what happened. The helmet I was wearing is in five pieces and I still have it. I was lucky in that I only received a grade 3 concussion with a little bleeding in the brain. Anyway three days in ICU is not fun. I have recovered about 99% and know I will never be 100%. I have heard and agree with the saying how much is your head worth to you.
