The photo of Mike Schmidt's Ugo Blue DeRosa with yellow decals struck me wi th its similarity to my recently rebuilt 1980 or 1981 Zunow. That bike is also very, very close to Ugo Blue with the same shade of yellow for the acc ents. Kageyama-san even enclosed a spade in the "O" in Zunow, just as the "O" in DeRosa encloses the heart. And many details of the Zunow, beyond ju st the color scheme, mirror Italian design in general and DeRosa in particu lar. Pretty clear what marque most influenced Kageyama. Did we ever estab lish if Kageyama actually apprenticed in Italy, or was just heavily influen ced by Italian bikes, especially DeRosa? Of course the more recent Zunows with their rather wild graphics, have developed a much different style, but the early ones circa 1980 could probably have been passed off as Italian b y changing the decals, although not as a DeRosa, since the lug cutouts are spades rather than hearts. I'm sure there must have been Italian builders (other than Confente) who used spade cutouts.
