More like 1975-1978, according to the style of the Columbus bird of happiness (torn up as it may be). People sometimes report seeing earlier decals on later frames (probably leftovers from earlier years), but when it goes the other direction, it's typically more years worth than this (i.e., like a significantly later repaint). So, it's likely that the sticker is placing the vintage later than your 1973 theory.

Nice frame, though...whatever the year. I'm a sucker for drilled dropout faces, regardless of how little sense it makes.

I recently acquired an early Gios Torino frameset on eBay from the Netherlands:

This intrigued me as being possibly a very early example of the marque owing to 1) no top tube brake cable braze-ons (I believe Gios was very early with these c. 1974 onwards or so were they not?) and 2) the chromed rear triangle (something I've never seen on a Gios before). In the 1973 Giro d'Italia the Brooklyn team bikes had no chrome in back and some had the all-chrome fork, others all painted. I do not yet have the frame so cannot ascertain a serial no. if there is indeed one. But does anyone have a guess as to the year of this? I am thinking 1973-ish and not sure if the Columbus tubing decal is of this era or not.

Anyway, it's a good thing I didn't sell my Brooklyn Team bidon I've had for years... much easier to just buy a bike to match it then sell anything, right?
