I have ridden many miles on Mafac levers with full hoods. However, I usually grip my long-reach handlebars behind the hoods... and switch to the drops frequently. That said, in PBP, I spent quite some time on the hoods, and they were fine. They are a bit bigger than Campy, if that makes a difference.
