I would like to thank Dale for putting up the new page on the CR website dedicated to the Italian framebuilder Licinio Marastoni.

I'll let you all read the little text on your own. I can promise that once you have read the description and looked at some of the photos, you will realize that Marastoni, like PelĂ  and a number of others, are the rare breed of under acknowledged builders and industry pioneers. Marastoni is now 87 years old and retired. He does however continue to ride his KOF bike built around a steel frame that he built himself in the late 90's. He started as an apprentice at 11 years of age in 1933, selling his first Marastoni-branded bike in 1939, building his last frames in the second half of the 90's, over 60 years of frame building experience. Hilary recently offered one of his frames from the early 50's for sale (see his post: http://search.bikelist.org/getmsg.asp?Filename=classicrendezvous.10905.0029.eml and photos of the frame here: http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r77/hilarystone/Marastoni-P-R-dets-dets.jpg ), that had it been a bigger frame and not had the dents, I would have been all over.

I am hoping to bring a selection of Marastoni bikes down to le cirque.
