Hi Tom, In the seventies, I bought a Peugeot racing bike ( I forget the model number) that was fitted with a Stronglight 49 alloy crankset. The bottom bracket axle is original and is a Nevar item. It never gave any problem. It is stamped "NERVAR" and "126". I have used it with Stronglight models 49 and 93 on the bike.

I have dismantled the bike recently and so I could take a photo of the axle, if you'd prefer.

I hope that this helps.

Kind regards, Peter Rogers

Barrie, Ontario
