Subject: [CR] Help w/ bronze Campi belt buckle (on-topic, c. 1980)

Folks,

I hope this is an on-topic request, as there is no info in the bikelist archives, and my Campi belt buckles are as essential to me as my <c> chain rings.

I own two Campi belt buckles from the on-topic period. One is the pewter oval-shaped one, which works fine.

The other, a bronze round one made by True Distance, Inc. of Houston Texas (winged logo, Campagnolo script, Copyright 1980), is problematic: the pin that holds the leather is too short, too small in diameter, and too pointed in shape to properly secure my leather belts. :-(

It is otherwise fine, but the dysfunctional pin needs to be larger in diameter, perhaps longer, and would benefit from a more bulbous end, which is how my pewter buckle is cast.

I would love to be able to wear this "rider" buckle. How can I best modify it to add girth and/or length to the pin, preferably with a "bulb" on the end?

Has anyone else on this list had the same problem and found a solution?

Can you "support" me in my quest?

Appreciatively yours,

Jon Spangler wearing Campagnolo on my belt with pride (but so far, only in pewter) in Alameda, CA USA
