I think the author of the article told a great story about how NOT to ride the event, ignore advise from someone familiar with the event, and select a route beyond his physical riding ability. What the locals told him at the cnd of his ride was that he at least tried. They were thinking something else.
Did L'Eroica twice, stayed in my zone both times and had a blast.
