Subject: [CR] 2009 Cirque Musings

Well, the twelfth edition is now on the books. I had a great time and wish to thank all that made this possible. Despite the economy, a thinner attendance figure and the rain on Friday, Cirque was fun.

My favorite bike was Peter Gilbert's Masi. A lot of others shared that opinion because it won People's Choice. My 1980 Rob Roberson won best restored 1974-1980 category. Special thanks to Rob Roberson for getting that frame back to where it was 29 years ago. The paint scheme by Joe Bell was great. I gave him the colors I wanted and left the creativity up to JB.

Memorable events (Yes, there are always those at Cirque)

* Room 230-the guest room turned conference room where we sat around the table for late evening wine tasting and story swapping. * Pre-Cirque Party at Wayne¹s new shop. * Friday Night¹s dinner at a Cajun restaurant in old town Leesburg.-The chef was fun, he brought out samples of the menu to taste and we ordered based upon what we liked. * Going on the longer 43 mile ride and later finding out that the shorter B ride contained a bunch of hammerheads that made the pace so hot, it became the ³A ride. * Riding my 1974 Alex Singer 650b on 40 year old Wolber Super Rando tires and NOT FLATTING. * The custom car show in Old Town Leesburg on Saturday night which had some of the coolest Shelby Cobras courtesy of the Shelby American Club. * Saturday night¹s dinner at an Italian table cloth restaurant with Tom Adams, Mark St. Martin, Bob Freitas, and Ray Homiski. The restaurant featured the worst waitress ever. Bob was given his check and his dinner never came, the waitress handed me the wine opener and asked me to open the wine because she did not know how to use the corkscrew, and the waitress handing us a peppermill and the guys unsuccessfully trying to use the peppermill before figuring out it was just a tall pepper shaker. Duh! But we had fun. * Watching the Cirque first timers in awe of the event, the bikes and the people. * Peter Weigle¹s story about how he dusted two guys on racing bikes while riding his restored Motobecane town bike. * The number of bikes crammed into the hotel¹s hallway, lobby and first floor hallway.

I put a few shots on wool jersey. Seems I forgot my camera but I had my iphone with me.
