Gosh, I don't know what the tap was. And for the life of me, I don't know how I would have figured it out. Oh, I guess I must have tried a Campagnolo mounting bolt in different dies until I found the one that fit, then used the corresponding tap. I've got one of those cheap metric tap and die sets from Harbor Freight Tools, which are very cheap, in price and quality. But if you only need a tap a couple of times per year, then they're okay. If I had a very significant project I needed a very professional result, I'd buy a good quality tap for that use. YMMV.
