Thank you very much Brian.

Thank you too Robert, I think I know what you're trying to express.

A thousand apologies, the Colnago is supposed to a 1972 model, if one goes by the decal on the seat tube.

My issue is that I can only afford one of the bikes, probably the Colnago, BUT I don't want to be conned by the seller. He is asking $2,000 CDN for it. Even though I owned a 1968 Cinelli for 38 years before the frame was destroyed when hit by a car, (luckily my son who was riding it was not seriously injured, the car driver was at fault)I'm a newbie to this vintage bike arena. There are a lot of shady characters out there selling junk and professed original vintage bikes for high prices.

I just want to make sure I'm getting what I' paying for.

Robert, since you have Colnagos in the same time frame, how do I determine the year of manufacture of the Colnago I'm looking at? The decals on the bike state: Record Or, Mexico, 1972, Columbus Speciale. I will look for the serial # tomorrow when I take the bike for a test ride, is the serial # on the inside of the rear stays? Is there a site on the internet that has a serial # registry that correlates year of manufacture with serial #s?

Thanks for you help.
