These are plastic-bodied retrofrictions, with the logos used on the original alloy bodied Retrofrictions introduced circa 1974. These plastic ones show up on eBay fom time to time. I would guess because they use the original shape and logo they are probably from the 70's, since the 80's alloy Retrofrictions had cutout levers without the logos. But I can't be sure - perhaps the cutout style just didn't work in plsatic.Regards,Jerry MoosBig Spring, Texas, USA --- On Mon, 7/13/09, Jon Spangler <hudsonspangler@earthlink.net> wrote:> From: Jon Spangler <hudsonspangler@earthlink.net>> Subject: [CR] Black Simplex retrofriction shifters?> To: "Dale Brown" <classicrendezvous@bikelist.org>> Date: Monday, July 13, 2009, 12:32 PM> Folks,> > Found some black Simplex retrofriction shifters on ebay> this morning--never seen them like this before, though:> > 200362428299> > \ufffc> > The barrels look right but the lever graphics and style> look to be an homage to the old Delrin-derailleur-days> levers...> > What gives?> > Thanks,> > > Jon Spangler> who finally has a working DSL line after more than a week> of dial-up agony in Alameda, CA USA> > Writer/editor> Linda Hudson Writing> TEL 510-864-0370> CEL 510-46-5356> hudsonspangler@earthlink.net> http://www.linkedin.com/in/jonmspangler> http://www.twitter.com/jonmspangler
