The only double sided tape you can trust is made by 3M. It's an automotive application tape used by manufacturers and body repair shops to mount emblems (like the Ford oval, for example). I used it to mount my Dave Boem custom made sterling silver Eisentraut "E" headbadge. I mounted it seven years ago and it's still as solid as a rock after hundreds of miles of riding...no fears of having it fall off. The nice thing about the mounting tape is that it is easily disengages using a piece of 20 lb test fishing line, making it easy to correct a mounting mistake or remove the headbadge for a frame repaint.

I forgot to say that in looking at Sean Flores' method of using double-sided tape, the way he does it undoubtedly can work because it doesn't rely exclusively on tape but also uses spoke heads as "rivets" to further anchor the badge into the head tube.
In recounting my experience with double-sided tape, I didn't mean to discount his approach, but only to say you can't really rely on the tape alone for a bike you're actually going to ride and transport (as opposed to show).
