Subject: [CR] Rare Thanet Silverthan FOR SALE

On behalf of Keith Hellon, I am offering the following bike to the CR list.

A rare 1951 THANET SILVERTHAN complete bicycle, built up with correct period components.

Seat tube 21", Top tube 22", wheelbase 41". Serial no. ST 1630.

Thanet was known for its extravagant finishes and this bike is no exception. An all-chrome frame, refinished like the original with red crimson tint painted panels so the chrome shows through to give it a particular vibrancy. The frame has been re-chromed, and the paint and restoration work was done by Keith Hellon.

This particular frame was custom made for Miss Cassell of Bristol in 1951. It features a rare top tube shift lever and a Thanet stem (exact replica made by Keith Hellon).

Dunlop 26" HP alloy rims, Harden small flange hubs; Chater Lea two arm cranks with Chater double chainrings; Chater Lea pedals; Christophe toe clips; French Cyclo 5 speed rear gear; Benelux rod type front changer; CLB side pull brakes; Reynolds alloy handlebars; Head clip headset; Brooks B37 saddle with alloy cantle plate; matching mudguards.
