John- IMHO. What's the big deal? Someone took an older bike and jazzed it up a bit. Get over it. In the car world they call it customized and it happens every day. Personally I think it looks great. A litle bit of old with a little bit of new. Put some newer, possibly Off TOPIC parts on it and take it for a ride. If every bike that came down the street was exactly the way it came off the showroom floor IMO would be B-O-R-I-N-G. Don't get me wrong, I like to see an old classic just as it was from the showroom floor, but ther is plenty of room out there to see people take the time to bring an Oldie to a Newie. Jazz up the paint, hide the brake cables, add derailleur hangers. It's up to whoever owns the bike and what he or she wants to do with it. There are plenty of folks out there making a very good living jazzing up older cars. Why can't folks do the same with a bicycle. It's just a bike....Let your imagination run wild...It's only a bike...Not the Mona Lisa...
