I think it is not a good idea to ask the builders on the list to explain why them and not someone else or other reasons to choose them. custom frame building while not VooDoo is not just science and measurement, it is certainly an artisan work. If you admire the work of the artisan then that is your choice.

Of course fancy lugwork is not a performance enhancer per se, but it is part of a totality of the work. Some like it, some prefer boiling the essence to a mimalist standard. each builder and buyer has his reasons.

the limiting choice of only one stock set of tubes is not within my (and that is my subjective view only) idea of choice.

For a particualr rider with a body type and build, level of expertise as a rider, planned use and actual use for the frame and complete as built package is all part of a totality. Different tubes choices for different parts of the frame is not uncommon for a desired expectation.

Please, let us just enjoy the cameraderie of the wheel and not ask what makes one the better?

If it were so simple to describe and do, would we not be a group of frame builders and not a mix of mutts that we are?

Vive la Differance!
