Subject: [CR] Early Colnago Detail Pics & Mesurements Needed!

Calling on the Colnago Cognoscenti! (Or at least those who own a pre-'72 Super):

I am still neck deep in the restoration of a '71 Super, which came to me without a fork and having had a number of braze-ons and new paint added at some point in it's 38 year history. I am restoring her as a period rider. At this point, I have removed the brake cable braze-ons and shifter bosses and filled the water bottle bosses that were added later. I REALLY need your help with the last three remaining unresolved details:

1) "Diver's Helmet". The ONE braze-on originally found on a '71 Super is the derailleur cable stop on the chainstay. Mine was removed and a new one was placed on the underside of the chainstay, as below-the-BB cable routing was also added... I am "correcting" all of this and now need to (a) locate and (b) braze-on a new one. A couple of detail pics would be GREATLY appreciated. I need to know both the style of cable stop (Campy, I believe?) and the distance from the drop-out where it was originally located. If ya happen to have a drive-train detail shot and can gimme a measurement, that'd likely get me movin' in the right direction. Also, if you know of a source (or happen to have one to spare) for said "diver's helmet", let a brother know!

2) Fork Crown. A 1971 bike had a semi-sloping "scalloped" crown with two holes drilled on either side (no club cut-out, etc.). With the help of members of this list, I have obtained a REALLY close crown. I will have to lengthen the points and drill the holes, so a number of detail pics of the crown will come in handy, as will a couple of measurements on distance between the holes, diameter, etc.

3) Fork Tangs. I know there are many variations on what was used by Ernesto & Co. at this time. Any pics and mesurements of the tangs on your bike will helpful. Or maybe even a tracing? Or better yet, just tell me your '71 doesn't have any and then I won't have to make any!

Any and all assistance in finding these last pieces of the puzzle will be tremendously appreciated. Help me, C-R Kenobe...You're my only hope!

Muchas Gracias,
