Tom Avenia was an important source of racing bikes in the New York area for many years. Many of us remember his and other NYC shops with pleasure-they were the source of dreams. Although I did not obtain it from Tom Avenia, during the late 1950's and early 1960's, some of us used double sided tape (made for this purpose-not electric tape) to glue tubulars, this tape was easy to use and caused no problems. I would like to know whether anyone remembers a Manhattan, NY, bike shop run by Joe Aug, a former six day racer? This shop was on the upper West side-about 110th Street, not too far from 5th Avenue, if my memory doesn't play tricks.
