I believe the actual composition of the original Campy grease is Olive oil and extra-fine Polenta flour. There was also a bit of Sardine oil added to improve the performance in wet weather.

Later versions of the grease switched to a very finely ground Semolina pasta flour and IMHO it never quite matched the old stuff.

Anyone know if there is any truth to the rumor that Brando used Campy grease to slick his hair down in "The Godfather" ?
