Subject: [CR] Juner bike shop

Adolph was a wonderful asset to the NYC bike racing scene. And as others have mentioned, his shop was a mix of smells. Perhaps I'm perverse, but I got off on the smell of the fiberglass bonding agent. Though his shop was a pain to get to unless you had a car or rode your bike there. He was in love with English bikes, especially Hetchins. But they seemed too fancy for most locals interested in bike racing. It has taken me 50 years, but now I understand his affection for those frames. Adolph was a regular at the local races, often at the "track" laid out with white lines on the old World's Fair parking lot in Flushing Meadows. He was a great mechanic and freely offered his services at the NYC bike race scenes.
