Subject: [CR] FS: 1975 FUJI 'The Finest'

Good Morning Again all you lovers of 'Classic' Bicycles.? I'm offering my 1975 FUJI 'The Finest' (#75B00200) in Rainbow Blue; Measurements are: 21" (c-t); 21" top tube (c-c); wheelbase 40 1/2"; Chainstay 16 1/2"; Standover ~30 1/2"; This was one of FUJI's top models and sold in the vacinity of $420 (I have a January 1975 price list); It is a double butted chrome molybdenum frame and fork (silver brazed) with half chrome stays and fork and chrome head lugs;? In typical Classic Rendezvous style, I have 'upgraded' much of the basic offering with period correct (and upscale) components as follows:? !st Generation Superbe Hubs (small flange) - not that the Sunshine hubs were in any way crap, but I like the label on the Superbes!? Rims: I'm not overly fond of Ukai rims and wanted a double eyelet rim, so I chose Mavic Championnat du Monde (French components go well on a Japanese frame!) and also my favorite: DT 14/15 spokes and Wolber Classic tubular tires; The original derailleurs (Suntour Vx) were upgraded to 1st generation Cyclone and I also used Bullseye pulleys (red of course!); Freewheel is a Suntour Pro Compe 6 speed (14-16-18-20-22-24) and the chain is a KMC; Shifters are stock Suntour power ratchets; The Sugino Mighty crankset was replaced with a Super Mighty (52x42 drilled rings) with the stock bottom bracket.? The Dia-Compe centerpulls were replaced with Grand Compe sidepulls and levers;? Pedals are the stock MKS Unique Road with MKS clips but I used Binda toe straps (with red Cinelli buttons); I replaced the stock bar and stem (both Nitto) with a different Nitto bar and stem to get a little longer reach and deeper drop; Saddle is a Fujita leather and the post is a fluted SR; Tape is tressostar and the bars ends are velox (white); The headset is the stock Tange;

The frame is in wonderful original condition (probably too nice to ride on a regular basis??) and looks like it just came out of a 'Time Machine'!!? The cables, housing, tires, freewheel, chain and toe straps are New, and everything has been overhauled.

?In trying to determine a price for this bicycle, I took a look at the 'Inflation Calculator' which indicated a cost of $420 in 1975 is $1662.79 in 2008. I have also been 'ruminating' over some of the prices which bicycles have been bringing lately, and this is a very high quality frame which I suspect is probably one of the nicest (original not restored) FUJI 'The Finest' around. I am asking $1550 (plus shipping - I don't charge for packing) and I will include the original bar, stem and derailleurs.? In addition, I will also include (for those folks who are not so fond of tubular wheels) a pair of Ukai clincher rims (single eyelets) and Suzue sealed bearing hubs!!? If you would like the wheels built up by me, add $100 to the price (that covers the DT 14/15 spokes, rim strips and minimal labor).

I should have pictures uploaded this evening (EDT); Please contact me off list for any additional information, etc.

Thanks.
