Subject: Re: [CR] Capturing photos of vintage bikes from Ebay

Several responses to my inquiry were received, mostly on-list. There were at least two individuals who do not have any problem saving "enlarged view" images to their computers from Ebay, however, I am not one of them, regardless of what I try directly.

The easiest suggestion was to use Internet Explorer to view the images, and indeed, I was able to save them through that browser using the normal "right click, save as..." method, so my problem has been solved, at least for now.

Other fixes mentioned were downloading different Firefox extensions that either allow one to open Internet Explorer within the Firefox window, or allow one to save the entire page as a PNG file that can be cropped for the image only and converted to JPG. One last trick mentioned was to view the HTML programming of the page, and find the URL for the image, where that URL can be visited, and the image captured there. Again, I am able to simply save the pics through IE, so my efforts ended there.

Thanks to all who responded!

The Screen Grab FF add-on is a ponderous work around. It saves the entire window (or visible portion) as a bloated PNG file, which will then have to be cropped and converted back to a JPG. If you are saving any quantity of images at all, using IE is the logical way to go. In this instance Microsoft has built the better, more user friendly and functional browser.
